By XXTRA Staff

Freedom Pod: Millennial XXChange – WABE Host of a Closer Look on  90.1 FM in Atlanta takes a look at WOC interns working on Capitol Hill.

As a part of a collaborative with Spelman College, CELIE (the Civic Engagement and Leadership Institute for Everyone) launched a program in the Summer of 2018 to promote diversity and inclusion, and the engagement of high-potential talent on Capitol Hill. Through our XXTRA Special and Free women and girls initiative, CELIE

sponsored two Spelman students.  English major Asia Alexander worked in the office of Representative Marcia Fudge (D-OH) and Political Science major DeKiah Baxter worked for Representative Al Green (D-TX).  Sharon Owens, Director of Alumnae Affairs at Spelman also shares information about how the program started and evolved over a 7-year period.

Costs associated with the program launch were defrayed by a contribution from Wells Fargo to CELIE.
