On January 20, 2018, supporters of women’s rights and human rights gathered in civil protest against the Trump administration in cities across the world. On the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s time in office and the Women’s March of 2017, protesters highlighted many issues of relevance to women which warrant action from the president and other leaders. Actor Viola Davis addressed concerns relevant to women of color at the protests taking place in Los Angeles. Interesting to note her reference to the fact that 70 percent of the female victims of human trafficking are poor women, graduates of the foster care system and women of color. We share Davis’s comments as they were aired on CNN.
The New York Times and other news agencies provided extensive coverage, much of which is available online. Stay tuned, 2018 promises to be another “year of the woman.”
